I graduated from Southwest Guilford High School in 2002. I began pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree that fall at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS Degree in Education of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, in 2006. I then completed licensure examinations to become certified in the areas of Middle Grades Language Arts (grades 6-9) and Special Education: General Curriculum.

I began my career with Randolph County Schools in 2006 in the field of Education of Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. I worked as an itinerant teacher, based at Ramseur Elementary, and serving students at John R. Lawrence Elementary, Northeastern Randolph Middle (NERMS), Southmont Elementary and Southeastern Randolph Middle (SERMS). In 2007, I accepted a classroom-based position at Uwharrie Middle School working with deaf students. In 2012, I moved into an Exceptional Children Resource/Inclusion position here at (formerly) UMS, now Uwharrie Ridge 6-12, and have enjoyed this position since.

A little bit about myself: I am originally from High Point, North Carolina. I have lived in the Triad area all of my life. My life outside of school consists of my beautiful children, Sophie, age 11 and Isaac, age 8, and my wonderful husband John. I live near most of my extended family, and my favorite thing to do is gather with my big Italian family! I also love the beach, reading, being outdoors, and watching movies. I have wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember, and I have a special passion for working with children who have special needs. I am fluent in Signed English (A version of American Sign Language), and I love teaching all subjects, but especially reading and writing!
